We Were Here

Project by Ahmet Rüstem and Hakan Sorar. Can an AI-generated JPEG file, produced by a text-to-image AI tool, be transformed into a dimensional/layered object? Inspired by cave paintings from various countries, the artwork “We Were Here” explores this question, presenting a topographical narrative through the layered traces of a 3D clay printer. Utilizing depth maps and various algorithms, this image was transformed into a volumetric object with the aid of 3D modeling software and was produced on August 7, 2023.

Fluid Dynamics

Project By Yelta Köm. "Fluid Dynamics" exhibition at Versus Art Project curated byÖzge Yılmaz. "Possibilistic Grounds," 2021Multimedia installation, aluminum cast topography, single-channel 4K Video 14:20For years, we have been trying to understand the world and represent it again with computers' help. With the emergence/involvement of the computer in the sixties that corresponds to the first attempts of digital mapping processes, land census, and calibration systems, the world's first virtual images have been rendered. While the earth becomes an intangible object assembled from satellite images, GIS data, aerial photos, and a globe to spin by clicking on a mouse, the technological tools that make this possible leave actual, physical traces of earth. Sometimes a material change in the world or appear in archaeological sites or dissolves civilizations or protects us, sometimes from magic, sometimes from radioactive rays. Whereas the grounds are melting, our positions are getting lost day by day.

Contact Wall Tiles

Contact Wall Tiles” explores the fluidity in concrete facade design, transforming concrete from a traditionally rigid and brutal material into a fluid, glossy form. Utilizing noise algorithms, the design captures a moment of frozen fluidity. The wooden molds were prepared at Saray Doğrama Atölyesi using CNC machining, and the concrete was mixed and processed at AND Prekast Cephe Kaplama. The facade was constructed using two different shotcrete mixes. Each tile measures 20×20 cm, covering a total area of 200×120 cm. This approach challenges conventional perceptions of concrete, showcasing its potential for fluid, dynamic applications.
